Every now and then we need something to watch to get us in the right frame of mind before we start our training or to get us back on track with diet. So here are the videos I have watched lately that have inspired me or I had a laugh at recently. Hopefully they do the same for you. Anyway, the first two reinforced a lot of reasons why I use a combination of applied gymnastics, Olympic lifting (and derivatives) and good old fashioned strength training with almost all our clientele. The last two I just found quite humorous. Enjoy! Read This Article

In mid April, I headed down to the Australian Fitness Expo which is held every year in Sydney. The Australian Fitness Expo is basically a show of the best fitness related businesses have to offer and it is a massive event with all shapes and sizes attending (see some of the pics below). At the fitness expo, the average punter gets to hang out with elite bodybuilders, fitness models, strength athletes and professional sportspeople who all get brought down by their respective sponsors. Highlights for myself was exchanging grip training tips with America's Stringest Man Derek Poundstone and talking nutrition with bodybuilding legend and 6 time Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates (pictured to the left). Also because it is dominated by supplement companies, you cannot help but walk out with two or three showbags loaded with protein samples, tee shirts and magazines. In fact, don't tell anyone this but I almost made myself sick from eating too many protein (cookie, bar, shake) samples on the first day. Read This Article

One of the girls that completed my 15 Day Detox at the start of the year (who by the way now is rocking a full on six pack at age 40+ from that nutrition plan and her hard training at our personal training facility), has been bringing in these awesome treats for everyone to try. The best ones have been these little Mini Minty Chocolate Muffins so I asked her to give us all the recipe for them. Read This Article

Another video for you. This time I am chatting about what you really need to worry about with dieting and losing body fat. Now there are three main factors we use: 1) what you eat, 2) when you eat and 3 ) how much you eat. These factors are also listed in order of importance to your fat loss success. So that means what you eat is more important than when you eat and when you eat is more important than how much you eat. Read This Article

I did a video recently talking about how important protein is to our health and helping us to keep lean. Do not worry though it is a little bit more sedate than my last one I shared with you guys - the FATGRIPZ promo video. Now protein is important for keeping lean for three main reasons - 1) protein is physiologically necessary to humans survival 2) protein is the best detoxifier of the body and 3) protein takes a heck of a lot of energy to digest so your body is working hard and burning fat just by eating the stuff. Anyway enough talking - watch the video, go eat some meat and tell me what you think! Read This Article

I've just been in Las Vegas where I had the Fitness Info Blueprint
Live with fitness industry heavyweights Craig Ballantyne and Bedros
Keulian. Vegas was a blast (I saw Terry Fator who was insane!) and it
was a great conference. I'll probably be heading back over for a
few more of these sorts of things in the near future. Anyway now
I am kinda stuck in transit sitting here in LAX International Airport
waiting to see if I get on a plane back to Australia. The waiting
sucks but there is nothing I can do about it. So why worry about
it right? Which brings me to the whole point of this post. Read This Article

Most people I know have tried dieting or changing what they eat to lose some of that stubborn body fat, improve their health or drop kilograms to fit into the jeans they wore five years ago. So we are going to address a few simple principles that can be applied to help make sure we do fit into that favourite pair of jeans and stop your eating habits plunging you deeper and deeper into diet disaster. Lets begin.Read This Article

Back in 2007 for optimal health, I had a Food IgG Allergy test conducted among a whole panel of tests. Now food allergies can basically come in two types: an IgE or IgG antibody reaction. IgE reactions are what your conventional doctor will measure with a skin prick test. IgG reactions, on the other hand, are much more subtle and can cause all sorts of symptoms ranging from weight gain, fatigue, bloating, aches and pains. Read This Article

For those of you who do not know, Active Release Techniques (or ART for short) is one of the most cutting edge treatment methods available for any type of injury. ART originated in the United States and it is so prominent now it is super unlikely you will find an Northern American professional sporting franchise (think NFL, NHL, NBA & MLB) who do not have an ART practitioner on the full time staff. It is also becoming more popular in Australia with both the Queensland Reds & Brisbane Broncos also having an 'ART guy' since 2009. Anyway when I completed my ART qualifications back at the start of 2009, I decided to sit down with the guy who started it all and ask him all about what makes it so special. So this is an interview with Michael Leahy DC CSSP, creator of Active Release Techniques. Read This Article
